Martial Arts Attributes

The martial arts attributes are extremely important because they set our kids up for success! What you can expect from our kids is improvement in overall coordination, strength, agility, balance, and stability.  These four attributes are the foundation of any athlete. This is why we stress developing these skills in our program, because it leads to speed, power, explosiveness, and body control.  With developing physical attributes kids need to have intense focus, self-control, discipline, courage, and determination.

Martial Arts Skills

In order to develop a strategy in self-protection we need to develop specific tactics. Tactics are made up of techniques that require certain attributes. This is where martial arts skill development is so important in self-protection. The martial arts skills develop coordination, stability, agility, flexibility, speed, power, etc. We develop these attributes through techniques such as; footwork, hand strikes, kicking, ground defense and protective tactics. If you can increase your martial arts skills, then you will increase your ability to defend yourself.

Situations our KIds deal with

This is the age where our children are highly influenced by the world around them. They are trying to find themselves and where they fit in. In this delicate time comes challenges and obstacles. One of these challenges is bullying. There are four types of bullying: physical, emotional, social, and cyber. This is our main focus with our students. We guide our students to become confident in who they are, and assertive to those that try to bring them down. The best way to stop bullying is to teach kids kindness and self worth. Pure Self Defense Academy is about developing strong individuals to live happy and healthy lives!

Street Smarts

“Just say NO”

It is inevitable that our kids and teens will at some point be faced with an altercation. Will they make the right decisions and stand up for themselves? Will they have good character and stand up for others? Pure Self Defense Academy puts our kids to the test by placing them in situations that require them to think before they act. We know that kids and teens will be pressured, intimidated, or shamed by bullies and sometimes their friends. We want our kids to think for themselves, be their own person, stand confident, and proud of who they are. For them to feel they can take on the world!

Testimonials

We have been with the studio since they opened at the beginning of this year and couldn’t be happier.  The main reason we moved over from a previous studio was the instructors.  Brandon, Anna and Chris are dedicated and attentive instructors and it shows in the work they put the kids through.  Each lesson is different and not just a “rinse and repeat” approach.  You can tell they’re not just there to teach the lessons and move on to the next one.  They genuinely care about their students and how to keep them.  The new facility is bright and open with plenty of room to move around.  Honestly though, they could be instructing in a run-down warehouse and we’d still be taking our son.  The lessons he’s learning are beyond just karate lessons.  He’s learning about respect, discipline and also how to defend himself.  Thank you.

We have been training with Brandon and his team for several years now.  My daughter, son, wife, and myself all have taken classes.  Their kid classes are amazing and helped our kids with all sorts of skills.  Things like stranger awareness, what to do if someone is trying to take you, being safe by not running into the street, many fitness related drills, and balance and coordination skills to name just a few.  We tried out several places in the area before settling on this place.  We choose them specifically for the level of control they have over the kids in class mixed with the amount of fun the kids have.  They offer the best balance by far of discipline, respect, and fun out of all the places we tried out.  Plus all of the instructors are great with the kids.  The little kids and children’s programs work multiple areas of development for the kids, not just martial arts and self-defense.
